Full Description

Red Lion Cottage, Main Street, Elton, an 18th century building. From the National Heritage List for England: 'SK 26 SW PARISH OF ELTON RED LION YARD (Off East end) 5/12 Red Lion Cottage GV II House. C18. Coursed rubble gritstone with projecting quoins, chamfered eaves band, plain copings, moulded kneelers, intermediate and gable end ridge stack, stone slate roof. Two storeys, two bays with C19 glazing bar sashes within projecting stone frames. Single bay added at south end, with single window. Two doorways, one with massive surround and six-panelled door with upper two panels glazed, the other with quoined surround, inserted to serve C19 shop in north end bay. Listing NGR: SK2227660931.'
