Nos. 51-55 Penn Lane, Melbourne, an early 19th century building. From the National Heritage List for England: 'This List entry was subject to a Minor Amendment on 12/01/2017 SK 38/3925, 6/148 PARISH OF MELBOURNE, PENN LANE (North Side), Nos. 51, 53, and 55 (Formerly listed as: Nos. 51, 53, 55 and 57) 15.06.70 GV II Terrace of four cottages, now three. Early C19 with C20 alterations. Ashlar with stone dressings and slate roofs with two brick ridge stacks and one brick gable stack to west, plus stepped eaves band. Each cottage has two storeys and a single bay, and to centre there is a central through passage. Nos. 55 and 57 to east have been converted into one house (No. 55). Each cottage has a raised doorcase with plain entablature and a C20 door. Nos. 51 and 53 each have a window to west of the doorcase below a tooled flat stone arch with central keystone, that to No 51 with C20 casement and that to No. 53 with a glazing-bar sash. Central passage has similar lintel and beyond to east Nos. 55 and 57 have glazing-bar sash-type casements, that to No. 55 below similar lintel and that to the former No. 57 below a C20 plain wedge lintel. Above to centre there is a narrow, blocked opening with tooled flat stone arch, and to either side there are pairs of similar openings, those to east with glazing-bar sash-type C20 casements and those to west with glazing-bar sash to No. 53 and C20 casement to No. 51.
