Buxworth canal basin, stables near wharfinger's house, Chinley, built c1800. From the National Heritage List for England: 'SK 08 SW PARISH OF CHINLEY, BUXWORTH AND BROWNSIDE BUXWORTH CANAL BASIN 3/77 (North Side) 24.7.80 Stables to east of Wharfinger's house GV II Stables, now garage. c I800. Coursed gritstone rubble. Slate roof. Rectangular, two storey building. Additions to east and south. South elevation - double doors to west, smaller door to east. Above centrally placed opening to loft. Listed for its historical interest as stable to house horse which first Wharfinger, George Wheatcroft, used for inspecting the basin and associated works. Situated by Buxworth Canal Basin, a Schedule Site. Listing NGR: SK0187182112.' (1)
