Bank Hall Lodge, Bank Hall Drive, Chapel en le Frith, built c1873. From the Naitonal Heritage List for England: 'SK 07 NE TOWN OF CHAPEL-EN-LE-FRITH BANK HALL DRIVE 6/4 (South Side ) Bank Hall Lodge II Lodge, now house. c1873 by WE Nesfield. Random, squared, gritstone with oversailing timber framing, part tile hung, part pargetted. Slate roof with bracketed overhanging eaves. Crested terracotta ridge tiles and spiral finial, topped with flower head, to eastern gable bay. Massive, furrowed and corbelled brick ridge stack. Two storeys plus attics. North elevation - ground floor in random stonework - chamfered in at base of windows, Central quadripitite window with small pane casements. To east similar single light window. Furrowed stone sills. Coved, oversailing timber framing with plaster panels decorated with floral motifs, over. Above, decorative tile hanging, apart from band of timber studding with decorated plaster panels. Central window similar to that below. In top of gable, single light attic window. East facade - steps up to glazed door. To south, tripartite timber window with small pane casements. Beyond, to south, recessed bay with single light window, Above door large consoles supporting oversailing timber bay. Studding with decorated plaster panels between, tripartite window over. Above,bracketed oversailing gable with timber studwork. Below, to south, single light window under eaves. Two square sectioned cast iron gutters with elaborate hopper heads decorated by portcullis and flower heads, to south. C20 extension beyond to south. Early C20 rendered addition to west. Also listed for its historical interest as home of architect Raymond Unwin. Listing NGR: SK0533479379.' (1)
