Four cottages, The Square, Middleton and Smerrill, built in 1822. From the National Heritage List for England: 'The previous list date of 12.7.67 shall be added to the following items: 4/49 Civil Parish of Middleton and Smerrill ------------------------------------------------ PARISH OF MIDDLETON AND SMERRILL THE SQUARE SK 16 SE 4/49 (East Side) Range of four cottages N of the Bateman Arms GV II Terrace of four cottages. Dated 1822. Coursed limestone with gritstone dressings, plain gables, intermediate ridge stacks with moulded caps. Stone slate roof. Two storeys, four bays, with 2-light chamfer mullioned casements. Ground floor windows and stone-framed doorways have hood moulds with stops. Plain planked doors. Circular central plaque to first floor, dated 1822. Listing NGR: SK1959163222.' (1)
