The Square, Nos. 1-3 Devonshire Square, Beeley, a mid-19th century building. From the National Heritage List for Englnad: 'PARISH OF BEELEY DEVONSHIRE SQIIARE SK 26 NE 5/37 (East Side) 1-3 The Square GV II Three cottages. Mid C19, possibly by G H Stokes. Gritstone ashlar with angle quoins. Steeply pitched gabled and half hipped roof with plain and fishscale tiles. Three massive ashlar ridge stacks. Two storeys. Y-plan. North west elevation has from left to right a 2-light chamfered mullion window with plain casements, a doorway with chamfered surround and plank door, a 2-light chamfered mullion window, a similar doorway with a similar but larger window. Three single light windows above, the outer ones set beneath steep gables. The left hand one has a plain casement. Otherwise all windows have iron framed diamond light casements and chamfered mullions and surrounds. The west elevation has a 3-light window with a 2-light above. South west elevation from left to right, has two 2-light windows, a doorway with chamfered surround and plank door, and a 2-light window. Three single light windows above, the outer ones set beneath steep gables. East elevation has similar fenestration and attached walls enclosing back yards with privys and coal houses.
