Full Description

Flanged palstave with a well-marked stop-ridge and one loop (broken) found by workmen in March 1934 in a quarry in Ashwood Dale. To be placed in Buxton Museum. (1) The above find is retained by Buxton Museum. No siting evidence obtained. (2) The blade is ribbed below the stop-ridge with four ribs that converge towards the cutting edge. It is of Burgess' Pickering Type 1, and is now in Buxton Museum. (3)
