Monument record MDR2879 - Round cairn, Gallowslow Lane and Slipperlow, Ballidon
Type and Period (1)
- ROUND CAIRN (Bronze Age - 2350 BC? to 701 BC?)
Protected Status/Designation
- None recorded
Full Description
A damaged but possibly undisturbed barrow between Gallowslow Lane and Slipperlow Farm. (1). The cairn shows traces of a central cist. (2). Barnatt identifies this barrow as possibly 10:13, which is an unexcavated barrow located on the crest of a ridge with good visibility to the east and north-east. It has apparently been robbed. (3). However, it is possible that 10:13 corresponds to SMR 921 or 904 and therefore the precise location of this barrow is unknown. (4).
