Full Description

Seven croft boundaries of a shrunken medieval village have been recognised and surveyed by L H Butcher. (1, 2) Documented occupation of the site dates from AD 1101. (3) Slight traces of earthworks are visible in fields south, south-east and west of Staden Manor. (4, 5) A shrunken medieval village with visible earthworks and seven crofts. The earliest documentary evidence dates from 1101 A.D. (7)
