Full Description

SK 0540 7248: Green Lane, Pottery (undated - ?Roman): An undated coarse pottery jar was found c. 1889 when some pipes were being laid in Green Lane, Buxton. The jar was found embedded alongside 'a piece of pitching laid bare at a point near to Sycamore Cottages'. The jar, which appeared to be of Roman type, was sold to a passing visitor. (1)
