Full Description

Romano-British 'Derbyshire' ware found, c.1955, in a ploughed field at Hopton, near the track sometimes called the Chariot Way. (1) The Derbyshire ware was scattered all over the field,with a heavy concentration in one area. Prehistoric flints were found in the same field in c. 1955 The indicated area has been variously quarried, tipped or built on. Mr Lomas is dead and the "Chariot Way" is not known locally. (2)
