Full Description

A Hoffman kiln of 1872. The chimney has been demolished. (1) The structure is well shown in photographs. (2) The kiln was closed in 1947, and the 170 ft chimney was demolished in the 1950s, with the remainder of the structure demolished in about 1980. It was owned by the Old Buxton Lime Company Ltd, and later by the I.C.I. The stone foundations still survive to the south of the Cromford and High Peak Railway trackbed [1984]. (3)
