Full Description
Series of very dispersed cairns, up to 12 including 1411 and 1413:- Probable cairn at SK 2885 6920, dia. 3m. Possible cairn at SK 2890 6930, 7 x 6m, robbed from one side, as could be an old shooting butt. Possible cairn, may be natural, at SK 2903 6923, very low diameter 6m. Another at SK 2923 6920, 6.5m diameter, 0.3m high. Probable cairn at SK 2945 6892, 4.5m dia. robbed on one side/ butt built into it. Area where C. Gregory indicated a group is actually a quarrying site and shooting butts, as seen by J Barnatt after burning. Possible cairn at SK 2932 6855, may be natural, 2m dia. Cairn at SK 2936 6852, 4.5m dia. Cairn at SK 2943 6825, 4m dia. robbed on 1 side 1 kerbstone visible. Cairn at SK 2963 6830, 4.5m dia. 0.5m high. Cairn at SK 2975 6824, 5 x 3.5m dia., 0.3m high. Cairn at SK 307 686 is a shooting butt. (1) (2)
Site monitoring has been carried out and site appears not to be under threat. (8)
