Mompesson's Well, Edge Road, Eyam, of 17th century date. [SK 22287720] MOMPESSON'S WELL [G.T.] (1) '"Mompessons's Well" or "Mompesson's Brook" a well or rivulet north of Eyam where articles were left for collection by the villagers of Eyam during the plague of 1665-6. Named after the Rev. William Mompesson.' (2) See G.P.A.O/65/96/1. (3) From the National Heritage List for England: 'SK 27 NW PARISH OF EYAM EDGE ROAD 4/41 (West Side) 12-7-67 Mompesson's Well at SK223772 II Wellhead. C17. Gritstone. Stone trough, covered to west by rectangular slab crossed by humped ribs. Surrounded by C20 iron railings. Listed for historical association with the Eyam plague of 1666. Listing NGR: SK2228077192.'
