Full Description

[Name SK 2153 7619] CUCKLET CHURCH [G.T.] (1) Cucklet Church is a natural arch in a rock in the Delf where the Rev. William Mompesson preached during the plague of 1665-6. (2) A natural cave with four entrances. See GP AO/65/96/8. Published survey (25") correct. (3) A natural limestone crag with arch. closed by parishioners of eyam during closure of village in plague year 1666. A commemorative service is traditionally held there on the last sunday in August. (4)
