Full Description

SK 006 896: Ringstones, ?Cross Base: A large stone chair and, nearby a fine stone axe (SMR10701) were found 'recently' in cutting a trench on the farm of Mr. Abner Froggatt, Ringstones, Rowarth, near Glossop. Ringstones lies near the County Boundary. It is possible that this 'chair' ia a cross base, Cf. Abbot's Chair - SK 09 SW 3. Possibly "The Crosse" shown at SK 0047 8957(2)] (1-2) A cross base could not be located; and there is no local information regarding the axe. (3)
