Full Description

[Area SK 282 736] Haughton Cross, 1.3m/4 ft. [high] possibly now inverted, stands about 750 yds. N.E. of the most N.E. wall-corner of Moorside Farm fields by the side of a former bridleway from Clod Hall Farm, over Clod Hall Moor to Curbar Gap. [The name Haughton is not listed by the E.P.N.S.]. (1) The described feature was located at approx. SK 2839 7348; a rough-hewn featureless shaft, set upright by packed stone round its base. It has no archaeological interest and appears only to mark the old bridleway. A second, smaller but similar, stone stands by the track 200 yards away. (2)
