Full Description

SK 2201 8469. Stone [NAT]. (1) 'Moscar Stone' or 'Old Woman Stone' has three parallel grooves vertically down the upper half of the exposed stone. It is broken off at 25cm above the present ground level and now recumbent, having been intentionally broken in December 1931. Its original height would have been 2.35m; width 1.15m; thickness circa 45cm, but 35cm at break. It was photographed in circa 1927 prior to being broken. (2) The Old Woman's Stone, once a 2.4m high menhir which was felled earlier this century to prevent ramblers from using it as a guidestone. Today it lies prostrate next to its stump. (3) Scheduled.
