Full Description

SK 253 831. Sauveterrian flints were documented by the Hunter Archaeological Society as being found on Stanage Edge, in a rock shelter at Cowper Stone. (1) SK 2539 8316. The Sauveterrian flints were recovered by A Henderson before 1974. Mesolithic platformed cores, including flint blades and a saw blade, are documented as being recovered at Cowper Stone Rock Shelter and are now in the Henderson Collection in Sheffield City Museum. (2) SK 2539 8312. Neolithic and Bronze Age flint waste found at Cowper Stone rock shelter by A Henderson. Now held in the Henderson Collection at Sheffield City Museum. (3) Mesolithic flints, microliths and other finds made of chert and stone. Found in rock shelter. (4)
