Full Description
SK 0018 8587: High Street, Bridge: 2 Arch bridge over the river Sett, of Medieval date, but with later additions. (1)
The bridge marks a historically important crossing point over the River Sett. It is the site of the earliest bridge in New Mills and the focal point for the early development of the town. The present bridge may contain some remnants of the medieval bridge, but it has been altered and rebuilt many times, particularly following severe damage from the 1930 flood. (2)
