Full Description

The Old Hall at Swarkestone, of which the ruins now form part of a garden wall, was probably built about 1560 by Sir Richard Harpur who died there in 1573. (1) The remains are two storeys high with three four-centred stone fireplaces and a four-centred headed stone doorway. Grade II. (2). Extant remains of a former hall at SK 37412847 are as described. See illustration card. (3) The listing has been revised to Grade II*. (4)
