Full Description

An Iron Age upper quern stone was found in 1952 at a sandpit belonging to Messrs. Searanke Ltd. in Eureka Road, Midway [the grid reference given in the text, SK 312 204, does not fall on Eureka Road]. It is made of Millstone Grit and the surface is covered with course tooling marks. It is 174mm high and has a maximum diameter of 280mm, with a 24mm pipe to the grinding face. The stone is now in Burton-upon-Trent Museum. (1)
