Former Toll House, Kedleston Road, Derby, a mid-19th century building. 'SK 33603791 Toll Bar.' (1) 'Gothicised two-storey brick tollhouse with a single storey east wing built by the Loughborough & Brassington Trust and unoccupied at present.' (2) 'Mid 19th century buff-brick toll-house. Grade 2.' (3) 'Two storey brick toll house with projecting single storey wing on the south side, with fish-tail tiled gabled roof and iron-framed windows with lozenge-shaped panes. This section of the former main route north to Manchester was improved under an Act of 1738.' (4) From the National Heritage List for England: 'KEDLESTON ROAD 1. 5170 Former Toll House SK 33 NW 7/165 27.11.75. II 2. Mid C19. Buff brick; 2 storeys; 3-light stone mullioned window with cusp-headed lights and diamond paned iron casements. Ground storey has a modern casement and doorway inserted in stone surround, batten door; stone-coped gable with kneelers ; plain eaves; lateral clustered brick stacks; fish-scale tiles. Single-storey wing on right-hand side. Unoccupied at time of inspection (1974). Listing NGR: SK3360137910.' (5)
