Full Description

SK 335373. A polished gritstone axe of Neolithic period, 8.5cm long, 5.6cm wide, 2.5cm max thickness, chipped in the butt area and on the cutting edge, was found in top soil excavated for Allestree link road. (1) Grid reference provided by source falls some distance from link road. Exact findspot therefore unknown. (2) Neolithic polished greenstone axe; 3.5in x 2.1in x 1.0in; found in Markeaton Park during road excavation for the new Queensway Road in 1.1983 (3)
