Full Description

SK 0566 8585: Coldwell Clough, Cross-shaft and sundial: There is the shaft of a medieval cross with chamfered edges, having the top subsequently carved into a sundial with the date of 1706, at Coldwell Clough, on the route from Hayfield to Edale. (1) Situated at SK 05668585. The gnomon is undated, the base is modern. Local enquiry revealed that the original base was destroyed during snow clearing in recent years. See GP AO/65/94/1. (2) The sundial has been replaced on a new base. (3)
