Full Description

[SK 333451] A Roman roof tile was found by Mr. L Howell in his garden at Hazelbrow Cottage, Hazelwood Road, Duffield in 1959. The tile was part of an imbrex and had the appearance of a waster. A scatter of Roman pottery was also found in a neighbouring field. [See SMR 20422] (1) Hazelbrow Cottage is situated at SK 33334509. Mr Howell could not be contacted and as a result no further information is available. (2) Part of a Roman roof tile was recorded as being found in the garden of Hazelbrow Cottage in 1959, along with a scatter on Roman pottery approximately 200m east in a neighbouring field. (3)
