Full Description

[SK 329467] A Roman pottery scatter consisting of about 78 sherds was found in a field south-east of Lumb Lane, Hazelwood. The material was found in 1979/80 during fieldwalking by Trent and Peak Archaeological Trust as part of the Amber Valley Survey. There were denser concentrations at the western end and in the far north-eastern part of the field at SK 329468 which may possibly have been associated with a kiln. (1, 2) [See SMR 20418 for kilns excavated in this area in the early 1970s]
