Full Description

SK 391440. On the brow of the hill to the north of Horsley Lodge, medieval pottery was found consistently over most of the field, inter-mixed with Roman pottery. (1) Romano-British Derbyshire Ware scattered over 1.5ha just below the ridge north east of Horsley Lodge. Daub also found with the pottery concentration. The Ryknield Street Roman road runs through this field. (2) Dates of Field Survey : 4-12-79 to 15-3-1980 See also SMR 21108 for Medieval Pottery Scatter.
