Full Description

Gritstone quarry making holystones (for scrubbing decks of ships), circular grindstones and scythestones. The production of holystones ceased around the Boer War, and grindstones were made until c.1914. (1) The grid reference in source (1) seems incorrect; the reference was corrected using the 1974 OS Map. (2) Most operational during and before the Boer War. (3)
