Full Description

The dam holds Toddbrook reservoir, which is a feeder for the Peak Forest Canal. (1) Built 1834-1840 covering 39 acres and a capacity of 293.3 million gallons. The embankment is 975 feet long and is of earth with a clay core - 81 ft 3inches deep and 16ft wide at base. Two valve houses below the embankment regulate the canal water levels - they were built between 1838 and 1839. (2, 3, 4)
