Full Description

SK 386614 Smithy Moor, Bloom Smithy and Blast Furnace. Bloomsmithy present in 1578. Blast furnace and forge by 1593. Furnace last referred to in 1650's. The bloomsmithy can be located by field names Near and Far Smithy Moor Close, and the furnace Near and Far Furnace Close, both on Stretton Tithe Map. Sites probably destroyed by railway. (1)
