Full Description

In Dronfield churchyard is the shaft of the old preaching cross. (1) Published survey (1/1250 NSL) correct. (2) In the churchyard of St. John the Baptist. (3) A grade II listed medieval cross. It has an octagonal stepped base of three tiers, supporting an octagonal block, on which stands a square base with deeply chamfered corners, given an octagonal upper face and gabled sides. The base supports the stump of an octagonal cross shaft, the upper face now has a sundial face. (4)
