Full Description

SK 38557115 Swan Yard, Medieval Occupation. Earliest Medieval Phase represented by 11th century pits containing coarse Saxo-Norman Ware and 'Developed' Stamford Ware, of possibly 12th century. A circular oven of sandstone blocks was undated. 2 successive stone buildings were erected on the site. The first dates possibly to 13th-14th centuries. The second is 15th century and at right angles to the first. This underwent significant alterations in the 16th and 17th centuries and may have survived until the 18th century. (1-2)
