The upper stone of a small flat quern was found in May 1961 by PS Haigh in the northern part of a field 400m east of Lightwood, at approx. SK 383 819. One side of the stone was convex, the other concave. There was a central feedpipe with a slot on the concave side, and a side handle-hole. The find is in Sheffield City Museum. (1)
Mr Haigh is not known locally, no further information was obtained. (2) A Romano-British date is suggested. (3)
