Milepost, east of Golden Valley Farm, Nottingham Road, Risley, an early 19th century structure. 'SK 449356 Nottingham Road, Mile Post. Cast iron bobbin type mile post on the Nottingham-Derby turnpike made by J. Harrison of Derby.' (1) 'Listed, Grade II. The milepost is painted white with black lettering. One side of the head is inscribed 'NOTT.M/ 9 / MILES', the other has 'DERBY / 7 / MILES', and the stem is inscribed 'HARRISON DERBY'.' (2-3) From the National Heritage List for England: 'PARISH OF RISLEY NOTTINGHAM ROAD SK 43 NW 1/102 (North Side) Bobbin Milepost 90 metres west of Mount Pleasant (SK 4494 3563) II Milepost. Early C19. Cast iron. Bobbin type milepost, on narrow circular stem with cylindrical head over and moulded top, standing about 3 feet high. West side inscribed 'NOTTm/9/ MILES', east side inscribed 'DERBY/7/MILES' and stem inscribed 'HARRISON DERBY'. Listing NGR: SK4493535640.' (4)
