Full Description

Systematic field-walking and collection during 1997/98 by Ockbrook and Borrowash Historical Society identified a generalised spread of Roman pottery in field 7843 , with several small clusters occurring in the north eastern quarter of the field. The sherds consisted of 1 decorated Samian, 6 plain Samian, 37 Derbyshire Ware, 7 Grey Ware, 5 Mortaria, 1 Colour Coated and 3 other (various fabrics). Other finds included a glass fragment (possibly Roman), a scythe whetstone, two pieces of flint and twelve fire cracked pebbles. (1)
