Full Description

Fieldwalking by Ockbrook and Borrowash Historical Society in 1997/98 identified a scatter of Roman and medieval pottery. Sherds included 6 Derbyshire Ware, 4 Mortaria, 2 Colour Coated Ware, 1 Grey Ware, 3 16th century Purple glazed Ware and 4 other. Additional material included a tile fragment, a glass fragment, a flint, 4 pieces of slag and two fire cracked pebbles. The material was generally spread over the field, although the medieval pottery was found in the north-western corner of the field, closest to the farm. (1)
