Full Description

Borrowash Bridge is built in blue bricks and carries the B5010 road over the River Derwent. There are three arches over the river and two land arches on each bank. There is a stone plaque on the west parapet. Opened in 1899, together with its approach roads and bridges over the Borrowash Mill watercourses, it replaced an earlier bridge to the west. Traces of the road to the old bridge are visible in the grounds of 'Riverside House'. The new bridge was financed from the profits of the Cavendish Toll Bridge over the River Trent at Shardlow. (1)
