Full Description

Trent Bridge was built by the Midland Counties Railway in 1839. The sections over the river have been replaced but the approach spans are original. (1) The original Midland Counties Railway was carried across the Trent by means of an elegant three-arched bridge built by the Butterley Company. The bridge was replaced with the present girder bridge in 1900 when the line was quadrupled. (2)
