Full Description

SK 465 413 Oakwell, Colliery Building. Two-storey brick building from former Oakwell Colliery, now much altered. (1) Ilkeston Colliery appears at this location on the 1st edition 25" OS map of c. 1880. It has expanded by the 2nd edition 25" OS map of c. 1900, but has fallen out of use by the 3rd edition 25" OS map of the early 20th century. (2-4) Many of the buildings associated with the former colliery appear to have been demolished by the 4th edition 25" OS map of 1937-8, but one remains extant at SK 463 413. The building has since been demolished. (5-6)
