Full Description

'Site of St Mary Magdalen's Chapel' appears here on the 1st edition OS map. (1) There was a chapel at Riddings, dedicated to St. Mary Magdalen. It is not known when it was founded, when it became disused or when it was demolished. The chapel is mentioned in a will of 1504 and in the report of the Parliamentary Commissioners in 1650 when it was evidently out of repair. (2) There is no surface evidence of antiquity and the origin of this siting could not be ascertained [1966]. (3)
