Full Description

Small ingot - crudely rectangular - 55 x 20 x 14mm - apparently cast in an open mould; protruberance on upper surface is remains of the casting pour. Weighs 78.3gms. This conforms to known Viking weight unit of 26 grams ( a three unit ingot). The weight, form and mode of casting can be parallelled by other Viking ingot finds and probably dates from the 10th century. (1-2)
