Full Description

The name 'Neubigging(e)', meaning new building, is recorded in 1240, and the name 'Byggines' is found in 1306, both being thought to relate to Biggin Farm. (1) There is no ground evidence now of any medieval settlement, only 18th-19th century buildings, in a poor state. (2)
