Full Description

'Roman Coins found' is marked at SK 5071 7586 on late 19th century Ordnance Survey maps. (1) According to the Ordnance Survey's Object Name Book for 1897 "There were two old jars full of old coins supposed to be Roman found here about 40 years ago". The information is said to have come from Mr Turner, Agent for the Duke of Portland. (2)
