Full Description

Two Mesolithic scatters of white patinated flints with mainly 'rod' type microliths were discovered at Whitwell between 1976 and 1978 (see plan). 'A' : SK 509783 (Whitwell GPL1). No further information. 'B' : SK 508780 (Whitwell GPL 2). A multi-phase Mesolithic occupation site situated on a platform in the hillslope above Bondhay Beck. The flint assemblage, which includes microliths, occurs in two concentrations which may be homogeneous. No Neolithic or later artefacts were present. (1)
