Full Description

SK 509783 Gipsy Hill Lane, Flint. Quantities of flint have been recovered from this field over the years. Mr Lamb, Cinders Farm, found 2 arrowheads (possibly leaf-shaped) some years ago whilst ploughing at approximately SK 50877840. He gave them to Mr. Ward, the NFU insurance man from Chesterfield. (1) In January 1967, at approximately SK 50957832 he found a flake and 2 scrapers, in flint and a perforated mace-head probably of Bronze Age date. Another large flint flake was found in April 1967. These are all with Mrs. J. Clark, Worksop. (2-3) Field walking by NDAC produced more flint waste, cores and artefacts predominantly white or grey flint, both tabular and pebble. These were retained by NDAC. (4) Associated with SMR site 15176.
