Full Description

Three large stone gate posts, erected on the present site in April 1984. The previous location was at SK 204 824, where they were lying end-to-end, forming a flower bed edging. (1-3) These posts are from the Mytham Bridge 'Tollgate', now situated in a layby off of the A6013, at Bamford. This tollgate was one of 2 tollgates on the east side of Sheffield, one was on the Sheffield-Sparrowpit gate tip and one was on the link road to Bamford. Original stoops. (4, 5) Originiating from the Sparrowpit Gate road which was part of the Sheffield and Sparrowpit turnpike of 1758. They were originally poistioned on the east side of Mytham Bridge, about 1/2 mile on the A625, but were resited in 1985. (6)
