Full Description

A wedge shaped milestone, used as a gate post, situated at Knouchley farm and close to the former Grindleford Bridge. On the Newhaven turnpike Rd (1758) now the B6001. The stone reads ' TO SHEFFIELD GR ILES (?) , BAKEWELL5 MILES, ASHBOURNE 21 MILES' . The stone is in poor condition and the lettering is almost illegible. (1)
