Full Description

Tomb of H Merrill, off Little Edge, Eyam, erected in 1666. In a field adjoining Froggatts Factory there is a tabular tomb with H. M. inscribed upon one end. One of the remaining memorials to the victims of the Eyam plague of 1665-6. (1-3) From the National Heritage List for England: 'SK 21 76 PARISH OF EYAM LITTLE EDGE 6/55 (West Side) Tomb of H Merrill, 25 metres north of Hollins Farmhouse (SK214768) II Table tomb. 1666. Gritstone. Plain table tomb with flat slab top inscribed 'HM 1666'. This is repeated on west end of tomb. Listing NGR: SK2140776838.' (4)
