Full Description

Bateman recorded (1) that Mr. T. Birds opened several barrows on Eyam and Leam moors, finding urns and burnt bones, in 1827-28. Mitchell notes that he was also present at these excavations. (2) There are many such sites extant today- it is unclear which are those that were excavated at this date.
